Summer Update – July 2026

July 9, 2026

Litigation/Mediation

The Firm’s commitment to its clients continues through both litigation and/or mediation and we have successfully completed numerous dissolutions already this summer and begun new ones. If differences are irreconcilable, families need to get on with their lives with strong advocacy and thoughtful legal strategy. Not surprisingly, many cases get “heated” during the summer months with disagreements over activities, vacations, spending, and scheduling issues. Our attorneys continue to represent spouses, parents, and children, both in and out of the court and in alternative dispute resolution forums such as mediation.

AI and the Law

For ongoing clients, the increasing use of AI tools (after verification) has been a help in expediting the divorce process, although AI has its downsides and limitations which we guard against for clients and carefully advise them on this powerful tool.

For example, in a recent case (not one of ours), a defendant used ChatGPT to draft legal documents and then shared them with his attorney. In United States v. Heppner, the court found that the AI generated materials were not privileged and protected from discovery because the AI platform was public and the client had chosen to share his information with a non-privileged platform. This was a hard but important lesson for every client wanting to preserve their valuable privilege.

Mentoring from Students to Professional Athletes

One of the joys of our profession is mentoring the next generation of family lawyers. This summer we welcome Andela Blagojevic who has survived and thrived her first year at DePaul Law School and is experiencing the law in day-to-day practice with Allen, Glassman, & Schatz as a Law Clerk.

Our Firm also continues its mission of educating the public through Gemma’s Gems and NFL and college lecturing on our “Playbook for Life Off the Field” for athletes.

Most recently, Todd Glassman and Jonathan Schatz spoke to over 100 student-athletes at Texas A&M on their finances and futures to come. The audience was smart, receptive, and interactive as the line between amateur and professional athletes is blurred. NIL rules and earnings can become relevant to all domestic relations issues. Hopefully, it gives rise to more and more Prenuptial Agreements, for which AG&S literally wrote the book on it, along with financial guru Terry Savage and the extraordinary mediator Judge Michele Lowrance (Ret.).

Stay tuned for our fall update, have a beautiful summer, and contact us when you or your loved one or friends need family law help.

Our Best,
AG&S
